Mungo NP Trip Day 12 - Wagga Wagga to Goulburn

Today we are heading for home but taking two days to do it rather than have a long drive.

We decided to have morning tea at Jugiong just to see what is there and were most impressed with this tiny town that is now bypassed by the Hume Highway.

The sparrows could not wait for their share.

The cafe has some interesting things in the shop and the coffee and mixed berry slice were excellent.

The Sir George Hotel looks as though the accommodation would be quite good and the lady at the Information Centre in Wagga recommended it.

We pulled off the Hume again into Gunning and had a delicious lunch at the Merino Cafe.

From there we followed the signs to Crookwell. There are huge areas of wind turbines on the way up and some great vistas of huge rocks.

At Crookwell we found quite a large town and a lovely Information Centre. Another photo for Chooky.

We spent time in the Sock Shop and even went out the back to see how they make their pure wool and pure cotton socks. It was all very impressive but the socks were a bit expensive for what I wanted.

From Crookwell we took the very good road down to Goulburn. Lots more wind turbines. We pulled in to the first motel we came to that did not have a 'no vacancy' sign and it was well on the Sydney side of Goulburn and only had one family room left but it does have a complimentary breakfast tomorrow.

We struck just light rain at about Yass and a very cold wind to get out of the car to so we've decided to see if we can order a dinner delivery.

  1. You really have had a great trip. More lovely little towns. We have stayed overnight in Crookwell with the van on a couple of occasions and also visited the open gardens there last spring. Mick did treat himself to some socks, as I had treated myself to some rather lovely sock wool earlier in the year. The towns further south haven’t been in our travels for many years.
