Underhill is recovering

Yesterday Greg, Ev and I drove to Underhill for the day. We were soon joined by Geoff, Jen, Ivy, Heather and Ponyo and then a little later by Nathan, Karita and Acacia.

The best thing to see was the huge green manure crop Geoff broadcast in the dog yard last time. All sorts of good plants flowering and hopefully setting seed to regrow again.

The dams were still full although in the top dam you can now see the tops of 2 of the star pickets.

Greg and Ev went for a walk to the far dam. It is interesting that some of the planted eucalypt seedlings are now just at the water's edge rather than with their feet absolutely wet.

Geoff had an unwanted, rather large Port Jackson fig at home and has brought it down to see if it survives. He is hoping it will break its way out of the pot and become a bit of a fire retardant barrier near the shipping container.

One of my main projects was to get a step made for the caravan. Geoff actually did the work but I am pleased to report that a little old lady like me can now get in and out of the caravan safely.

Geoff was able to finish off the brickwork for the stove he is building so next time we go we will probably be adding the pizza oven to the far end.

The little girls had a great time playing together in the dirt. Acacia, of course, tasted all the rocks and leaves.

Some of the fruit trees are blooming and it looks as though we have only lost the damson and a few of the smaller newly planted trees in the centre orchard.

The wattle was in full bloom and looking grand.
