This afternoon after Ponyo went home I cut my existing carpet into usable floor mat pieces and will eventually have them bound to use on the new polished wooden floors.
I did not keep the awkward edges and will leave those for the builders to dispose of. The purple underlay will protect the wooden floors as they work. You would not believe the amount of sand that has worked its way through the carpet in the 10 or so years that I have had it.
This step is now the first non-reversible step in my clearing out. The contract has been signed and the start date given.
