Geoff and Jen went with the girls to Underhill to collect fruit. They picked lots! The quinces look great. The apples included Five Crown, Golden Delicious, Cox's Orange Pippin, and Pink Lady. There were also a few pears.
No we all have lots of work to do to ensure they don't go off. There will be lots of eating, drying and cooking over the next few days.
I have already put on a huge saucepan of mint jelly ingredients using some of the smallest apples and the mint stalks from the freezer and some dried mint leaves from the pantry all mixed with water and brown vinegar.
Tomorrow it will be stewed quince and quince jelly and a batch of dried apple, and that should only leave me about 3 trays left.
If you would like some of the harvest to try your hand at something please let me know.
